About the Imkaan Welfare Organization
Imkaan Welfare Organization, based in Karachi, Pakistan, was established in 2012 and is registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance (1961). The organization is dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of children, women, and marginalized communities, ensuring that every individual—regardless of birth or background—has access to safety, care, and opportunity.
Imkaan’s work spans several interconnected areas, including:
- Mother and Child Health – ensuring safe childbirth and maternal care in Karachi.
- Mental Health – offering psychological counselling and awareness programs.
- Education, Recreation & Sports – empowering children through learning, creativity, and play.
- Legal Protection – advocating for the rights of stateless individuals and vulnerable families.
- Environmental Health – promoting cleaner, safer neighbourhoods through waste management initiatives.

Imkaan envisions a society free from statelessness and inequality, where compassion and justice guide every act of care, and where communities flourish through access to education, health, and hope.

Imkaan’s objectives are rooted in compassion, inclusion, and empowerment. The organization strives to:

- Instill in every child the belief that life is their right, to be lived with meaning, safety, and dignity.
- Ensure quality healthcare, education, and recreational opportunities for all children.
- Promote a clean and safe environment that enables every child to grow and thrive.
- Work toward eliminating child abandonment and infanticide by addressing the social and economic conditions that cause them.
- Ensure that every abandoned or orphaned child is placed in a loving, permanent family with continuous support before, during, and after adoption.
- Establish a network of prenatal and neonatal clinics offering professional care and guidance to mothers and mothers-to-be.
- Enable community empowerment through business development, livelihood creation, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Advocate for and protect the rights of stateless individuals, offering pro-bono legal aid and access to justice.
- Expand services and initiatives within the legal and ethical framework determined by Imkaan’s governing board.
